Harms & Wende’s partner description
The coordinator, Harms & Wende (HWH), is a medium-sized producer of control systems in the welding sector, since 1946. Its main focus is on pressure resistance welding. The company occupies the first place as supplier for automotive manufacturers and the second regarding the tier industry in Germany (e.g. Mercedes, Benteler and BMW). HWH is provider also at the EU level (e.g. Volvo, Faurecia and CITROEN) as well as in other foreign countries. The market share of the company concerning pressure resistance welding controls for the automotive sector amounts in Germany to about 30 %. HWH has a market share in the field of control system for resistance spot welding of 50 % in Germany and 15 % in Europe. HWH supplies customers directly via a network of suppliers e.g. in the areas household appliances, constructional steel. The customers are often manufacturers of welding machines whom employ HWH welding control systems. HWH supplies resistance welding equipment in form of control devices, quality assurance systems and complete packages to well-known machine construction companies. With the control system of HWH it is possible to master all forms of resistance welding technology such as spot, projection and seam welding. The welding controls can be networked enabling them to be incorporated into large scale production plants with a central control room. The welding controls of HWHe are indispensable when considering product liability and ISO 9000 standards. HWH has great experience in European research projects. They coordinated several projects where the most important are the integrated project XPRESS with 17 partners coming from 9 European countries and I-RAMP³ with 12 partners from 6 countries. Besides the coordination, HWH is also well known as a technology provider for high-tech solutions within collaborative research.
Harms & Wende’s role and contribution to ReBorn
HWH acts as the overall project coordinator of ReBorn. In this role HWH is responsible to guarantee a smooth collaboration within the ReBorn consortium and acts as the project’s representative to the European Commission.
